With the new year comes peoples promises and resolutions that often fall by the way side by mid February however many people are becoming aware of the power of the mind and productivity planning thanks to the variety of recent best-selling books that are bringing this concept to the mainstream.
Very often now you will hear people talking about setting their intention or manifesting their desires. A lot of successful people in the world are putting their accomplishments down to this power of intention and consistent practice.
What does setting an intention mean?
Setting an intention is activating a part of your receptivity. If you were to go out in the day, and not have set any intention or created any type of prayer or manifestation of how you want the day to go, then you're getting on a bike with no direction to set an intention.
How do you know what you want?
Most of the time our mind is caught up in the day to day running of life or a wide variety of thoughts, emotions, and memories. It is important to clear all of that away to really focus on what you want your intentions to be. Meditation can be a great start or doing something like a craft for 5 minutes to solely concentrate the mind or writing tools can be used such as journaling or mindmapping to help you find your intention.
How do you set an intention?
That element is open to interpretation some people like to write it down, others like to create mantras that they speak out daily or imagine in detail what life would be like once that intention is fulfilled. Rituals can be created around the process including candles, crystals and essential oils or even on each monthly new moon.

Gratitude is a very important part of the intention-setting process because if you’re always just wanting and wanting and wanting—and not finding the peace or the gratitude in your life—you’re in a constant state of scarcity which long story short means the universe works against you. As an addition there are many healthy benefits to practicing gratitude regularly.
The important thing to remember is that it works best with consistency so work it realistically into your lifestyle. If you do admin every Monday do it then. If you like to watch the moons cycles do it to coincide with that or if you wake up every morning practicing gratitude then bring into that practice.
